The comprehensive 4-month Combined Certificate in Caregiving and Support Work Program is intended to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required to excel in caregiving and support professions in Canada. This rigorous program ensures that graduates are well-prepared to provide high-quality care and assistance to clients with diverse needs, by integrating theoretical study with real-world experience.

Who is this program for? This program is designed for dedicated, hardworking, passionate, and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in starting a career in healthcare, particularly those who are new to or planning to move to Canada. The program is also designed for candidates with prior healthcare experience, and/or those that have received other training abroad.

Regular Applicants

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Alberta Grade 12 English Language and Mathematics or
  • Successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test that consists of five tests with a minimum score of 450 in each test;
  • An equivalent Advanced Level Adult Basic Education mathematics course;
  • Applicants with International transcripts must provide proof of the subject specific requirements
  • A student from non-English speaking countries should provide in addition to any or combination of the above, proof of IELTS-International English Language Testing Service-Overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.

Mature Applicants

  • Mature applicants are at least 19 years of age and have been out of the full-time senior secondary study for at least one year.
  • Senior secondary graduation will be waived for mature applicants.
  • Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee will be charged.
  • A student from non-English speaking countries should provide in addition to any or combination of the above, proof of IELTS-International English Language Testing Service-Overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.

    Graduates of this program will be able to work within a varity of settings, such as:

    • Home Care Agencies: Helping clients with everyday tasks, personal care, and company while they are receiving care and support in their homes.
    • Long-Term Care Facilities: Providing complete care to senior citizens residing in assisted living or nursing homes.
    • Hospitals: Helping medical professionals treat patients with a range of requirements.
    • Community Health Organizations: Working with public health organizations or community centers to provide support services to a range of demographics.
    • Private Residences: Directly hired by families to take care of ageing or disabled relatives.
    • This will aid your job opportunities in Canada. This will position you and be ready to be offered a job in Canada as a caregiver or personal support worker. You may be able to apply for permanent residence through the pilot program starting soon.
