The Certificate in Computer Technology is a one-year foundation program. Students will gain the requisite skills to start a career in IT (Information Technology). This program prepares learners with fundamental concepts and techniques required for effective planning, design and development of software applications and systems, Internet technologies, applied computer knowledge and networking.

Regular Applicants
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Alberta Grade 12 English Language and Mathematics or
  • Successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test that consists of five tests with a minimum score of 450 in each test;
  • An equivalent Advanced Level Adult Basic Education mathematics course;
  • Applicants with International transcripts must provide proof of the subject specific requirements
  • A student from non-English speaking countries should provide in addition to any or combination of the above, proof of IELTS-International English Language Testing Service-Overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.
    Mature Applicants
    • Mature applicants are at least 19 years of age and have been out of the full-time senior secondary study for at least one year.
    • Senior secondary graduation will be waived for mature applicants.
    • Mature applicants without English 12 can write the academic achievement testing (CAT 4) with a minimum of 60% score.
    • A student from non-English speaking countries should provide in addition to any or combination of the above, proof of IELTS-International English Language Testing Service-Overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.

      Graduates of this program will have acquired a platform to pursue further academic endeavours and provide them the job roles and opportunities such as Computer network technicians, network administrators, system administrators, communication technician, and user support technician.
